Turkish Sufi
philosophy is based on the basic principle of ‘He who knows his own soul knows
his Lord!’. The Creator, who is a hidden treasure, wanted to be known and
created the universe and Adam. From this point onwards, the endeavour to search
for the piece from which the human being, who has a soul, has turned into a
great wise quest. The role of words in expressing such an intricate story/quest
through poetry is of great importance. Because both literary researchers and
amateur readers inevitably try to enter the poet's world of emotion through the
words he uses. Although today's scientific researches think that they
understand the best with the most accurate commentary method, it should not be
misleading to say that what they tell for the artist does not actually go
beyond what the reader understands. In this paper, the universe of meaning of
the word “nazar” “sight” used by Yunus Emre in his poems has been analysed and
it has been tried to reveal how the Sufi philosophy's view of humanity is
included in Yunus Emre's words.
